Instructions for the patients undergoing Surgery |
Before Surgery:
- Use the Medication as per Doctor’s instructions
- If your haircut is due, have it 1 to 2 days prior to the Surgery
- Please stop Ecosprin/Aspirin tablets 5 days before Surgery

On the day of the Surgery:
- Wash your hair and shave on the day of Surgery
- Clean the face especially part around the eye 2 to 3 times with soap and water on the day of Surgery
- Diabetic Patients are advised not to take their medicines even in the day of Surgery and also to get the same along with them
- Come Empty Stomach on the day of Surgery, unless you are instructed to take Antibiotics Medicines
- B.P. & Asthma Patients are advised to take their medicines even in the day of Surgery and also to get the same along with them
- Please remove the Denture before entering the Operation Theatre

After the Surgery:
- NEVER rub the OPERATED EYE for about 2 months
- Every movement of the body should be SLOW and GENTLE without sudden jerks for about 2 to 3 days
- DO NOT lift heavy weight for about 2 to 3 weeks
- Clean any discharge or watering GENTLY with sterile Gauze piece. DO NOT exert pressure over the eye ball while cleaning
- Use the EYE SHIELD during the sleeping hours to protect the eye mechanically against accidental rubbing for about 2 weeks
- Use eye drops and other medications as per instructions
- While putting the drops or ointment, PULL THE LOWER lid ONLY. AVOID PULLING THE UPPER EYE LID
- After putting the drops or ointment, keep the eye closed for about a minute
- Sleep straight or on the opposite side of the Operated Eye for about 1 week
- You can have bath below head from the next day. The face can be cleaned using a damp cloth (head bath can be taken after 2 weeks)
- Shaving can be resumed from the next day
- Eat soft food on the day of surgery. Full diet can be taken from the next day
- Slight Bluish or yellowish fin in the vision is common after the Surgery
- In case of any undue problem of pain, contact the Doctor immediately. DO NOT wait till next appointment.
- Prescription of glasses will be given in 6 weeks after Surgery. This is likely to change again after about 2 months
