Instructions for the patients undergoing LASIK |
Before Surgery:
- Discontinue wearing Contact Lenses for as long as possible and use spectacles till the day of treatment.
- Start antibiotic Eyedrops three times a day 3 days prior to treatment.
- Do not apply perfume, deodorant, oil or any alcohol based cosmetics on the day of treatment.
- Please bring all the necessary eye reports on the day of treatment
- Please bring zero power glasses or goggles on the day of treatment.

After the Surgery:
- Do not touch your eyes after the procedure for 24 hours.
- Use zero power glasses or goggles for protection.
- Take a nap for 1-2 hours after reaching home.
- Take Combiflam or Crocin at night if there is pain.
- Report immediately if there is excessive eye pain or severe redness or blurred vision.
- Do not apply make up around the eyes for 3 weeks.
- Avoid excessive rubbing of eyes for 6 weeks.
- Do not swim for 6 weeks.
- Do not take head bath and do not cook food for 2 days.
- Avoid going to crowded places for 2 days.
- One can read, write, and watch TV, do computer work from the day of treatment.
- Put antibiotic and anti inflammatory drops for 5-7 days as advised.
- Put tear replacement drops for 3 months.
- Your vision may fluctuate for 6 weeks due to dry eyes.
- A blood clot may be visible in the eye for 7-10 days after treatment. This is especially common if you are a contact lens wearer for a long time.
- After the treatment, computerized eye checkup fails to give accurate readings due to change in corneal curvature.
- We recommended a follow-up schedule of Day 1, Week 1, Month 1 and 3-6 months.
- Those patients with retina weakness should follow up for annual retina checkup as advised.
- LASIK neither causes nor prevents cataract or retina problem.
